Monday, October 15 to Wednesday, October 17 – days in Clearwater

We spent a lovely 2 and one half days with my friend, Hildie Matheis. We met over forty-five years ago when we both taught in Colombia and we have kept In contact ever since. We always enjoy getting together and catching up on our lives. She has a condo in Clearwater FL and has been coming here since 1970 when her parents moved here from New York. So, she knows all the good places to go and the tricks to getting around. It was fun sharing her life with her for a little while.

We had lots of good food, including a delicious pork dinner cooked by Hildie. We ate at Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill, the Paradise restaurant in Safety Harbor, and the Friendly Fisherman in John’s Pass. We ate catfish, grouper, shrimp, scallops, and Krab. Yummy, yummy! Hildie showed us all the interesting places on the Gulf side, the Inland Waterway, and Clearwater & Tampa Bay. There are such lovely white sand beaches, but we never seemed to have time to go in. The weather was certainly warm enough!

There are lots of cute places to stroll around and do some shopping. We explored Dineden, Safety Harbor with its historic resort and spa, and all the gift shops at John’s Pass. We bought a few souvenirs and Hildie bought a cute flamingo box for me to remember our trip to Florida. There is so much to see and do – we must certainly come back.
